Promotional items sold in churches
Today, the Catholic Church has been starting to make use of various methods in order to better enlighten the community about the message of God and how to become responsible Christians in the society. One of the methods that church leaders such as a priest or a York minster prefer to use would be promotional items (Werbeartikel). Some of the churches and cathedrals which use promotional merchandise in communicating to the society would include St. Pauls as well as the Durham Cathedral.
Promotional items are able to help the mission of the Church to spread the word of God to the members of the community. They are also useful for church marketing, which is the process by which the church aims to improve the effectiveness of their communication and to influence the people to become mature disciples of Christ. Because of the benefits that promotional products offer for the church, many churches and church leaders around the world give them out at church fairs and other religious events. Some members of the church even give them out at various events which are not related to the church at all such as school fairs and even business conventions and conferences.
There are also some churches that sell promotional items in order to raise money for the community programs. Some of the promotional items (Werbemittel) that churches sell or give away to enlighten individuals or to raise funds would include mugs, notepads, shirts, pens, key rings, conference folders and many more. These items usually cost very cheap and have slogans, icons, images and prints which embody the mission and message of the Church. Some would have religious sayings which could act as daily reminders for the recipient as well as for the people who interact with the recipient. By doing this, the church is able to carry out their responsibility of spreading the word of God.
Although there are still some who are opposed to promoting the church and its message by using promotional merchandise, many church leaders have accepted the fact that we are living in a modern world and that they need to choose a practical approach in enhancing the spirituality of all the members of the community.
